I'm about to start a series of biographic pictures relating to christianity which will be on display in an English Cathedral towards the end of next year. Here's an example of one I did recently with a bit of blurb below to explain the reason behind the idea.

24x18" | oil painting on canvas
Jesus' baptism
This picture is influenced by those many hours gazing at wonderful stained glass, is a colourful, modern take on a traditional subject matter. Inspired by the late 19th and early 20th Century shift from realism to abstract, as well as Demuth's 1920s poster portraits — where the sitter’s identity can be divined from various words and objects — I wanted to produce a picture which had a strong visual impact. I hope it might attract everyone, even those resistant to ‘religious’ art, to look. In looking, the viewer reads the subject matter of the baptism of Christ, whether or not they can initially identify the exact symbolism: John the Baptist’s hand, honey bee, locust, the Holy Trinity, the candle flame and the waters of baptism.
